Romelu Lukaku is desperate to return to Inter following an incredibly disappointing season with Chelsea, forcing Thomas Tuchel to discuss the Belgian’s future with new owner Todd Boehly.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward returned to the Blues last summer from the Nerazzurri in a deal worth around €115m, and expectations were high following his impressive two years in Italy. Things did not go to plan in West London, however, and after a painful season Lukaku only managed to net eight Premier League goals, with only one being against a fellow top six side.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku is obsessively pushing for a return to Inter and he wants to personally negotiate a way out of Chelsea. Tuchel will meet with Boehly later this week to discuss transfer market strategies and the need to cut their losses with the Belgian forward.

Things won’t be simple, however, as Lukaku is only keen to return to Inter, limiting market opportunities. For his part, the former Everton and Manchester United man is willing to halve his current salary in order to return to the Nerazzurri; the €7.5m figure being floated would only cost the club €10m thanks to the Growth Decree.

  1. You cannot force a cow to drink even if you drive it to a water place. Let him go- Francis, Uganda.

  2. I believe he scored more goals than any other Chelsea player despite playing less. But I guess the definition of a flop has changed.

  3. Top goalscorer on 15 in all competitions – he was the star striker in his prime, of course he is going to score more than the rest

  4. @solointer
given he got 2 in the club world cup, he essentially scored 13 in the main domestic / european compeitions

    that’s poor

Enjoy him next season though 🙂

  5. @All-Inter That’s why Inter should get him because his main priority is scoring goals. Not his first touch or anything but for Inter to have a reliable striker who score goals. Chelsea got him for that reason and then complained about his his link up play and other stuff instead of making sure he score goals. Inter will be more than happy to have him back since now they are playing more attacking football than when when Conte was the coach. The defense is not as good but the ability to score goals is what will make the difference. I can see him score 30+ in all competition if Inter goes further in the CL

  6. I MISS JUVE IN SERIE B… did Ibra ask to leave Milan? Big difference there if you are trying to compare with a player that forced his way out from the club

  7. @I MISS JUVE IN SERIA B

Ibra? You need to rinse your mouth before you even bring his name up. Neither you, Lukuku, or his watering down milk mum have anything on Ibra. Like a coward, he tried to slither his way out of Linate doing his best to hide from Interisti. The same way they walked out of san siro at half time vs Doria on the last day 😩😩😩

  8. As fan I’d welcome him again and again. Of course, if he scores 20+ goals per season. 😛

  9. @Bringer he did say that he would leave if since the club wasn’t able to compete in Europe any longer. He proceeded to join P$G shortly after making that statement.

  10. @Rosario Lukaku has nothing on Ibra? Lukaku humiliated Ibrahimovic during the derby where Ibra insulted him using that racist woodoo-african trope – and then took Ibras balls away in the following 3-0 derby thrashing. Ibrahimovic is probably the most hopeful to see a return, so Lukaku can finally return Ibra’s balls he took to London.
The only thing Ibra has over Lukaku is a larger nose – and I’m saying this as someone who despises Lukaku for being a sleazy club-pandering weak sportsman.
