Antonio Conte is the first choice to replace Gennaro Gattuso at Milan, claims La Gazzetta dello Sport, but his legal battle with Chelsea is an obstacle.

The former Italy boss has been repeatedly linked with the role at San Siro, even before Gattuso was promoted from youth team Coach to the top job in place of sacked Vincenzo Montella.

According to multiple sources, Conte is again on their radar after three consecutive Serie A stalemates against less than stellar opposition.

According to multiple sources, Conte is again on their radar after three consecutive Serie A stalemates against less than stellar opposition.

However, there are some major issues with bringing Conte back to the Peninsula, as La Gazzetta dello Sport warns his legal battle with Chelsea for unfair dismissal is dragging on.

Those close to him suggest Conte’s main objective right now is to have that dismissal recognised as unfair in court and have Chelsea pay the €10m penalty that was in his contract.

He won the Premier League in his first season at Stamford Bridge, the FA Cup in the second, but was replaced by Maurizio Sarri when pre-season training had already begun.
