Torino chief Urbano Cairo has told admirers of Alessio Cerci to forget about making an offer for him.

Cerci scored in the 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday as Toro became the first club to take points off the leaders this term.

“Cerci is a really important player and I’m keeping a tight grip on him,” Cairo told Sky Sport Italia on Monday.

“We re-launched his career in the best way possible and, by playing him closer to goal, he’s discovered he’s a scorer too…

“His valuation? Nobody has asked me for him lately and he’s not for sale anyway.”

Cerci, a winger, has been used as a second striker by boss Giampiero Ventura at the Olimpico this term. He has eight goals in 11 Serie A games to date.

“I think he can score more than 20 goals in the championship,” Cairo added. “He can still improve too.”
