Alessio Cerci dreams of a goal against Lazio, apologises to Fiorentina and is “annoyed” at being compared to Mario Balotelli.

Roberto Mancini repeatedly expressed his admiration for the mercurial winger and said he'd love to bring him to Manchester City.

That looked more likely last week after Cerci was fined for insulting Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic during a substitution at the Stadio Tardini.

“I have reacted the wrong way sometimes, but that can happen,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I didn't want to come off the field against Fiorentina because I wanted to score more goals and have fun. I promise I won't get any more fines, because I know Mihajlovic is an important person who cares about me.

“I am annoyed at being compared to Balotelli, though, as I am not like him. They want to make me look like someone I'm not. Those who know the real Cerci will say I'm not a rebel, nor a troublemaker.”

His attitude problems are not the things keeping him out of the Italy squad, but rather his tactical position.

“You always find space for someone with talent, even in the Nazionale, but I haven't proved anything yet and first of all have to become crucial for Fiorentina.

“I thank Bruno Conti for saying I'm his heir, but the only thing we have in common is a left foot. He has won everything and I've got nothing yet.

“Returning to Europe is Fiorentina's main priority and if we beat Lazio on Sunday, then it becomes a serious possibility. I dream of scoring against Lazio with an overhead kick,” smiled the lifelong Roma fan.
