Brescia President Massimo Cellino insists Inter wanted to sign Sandro Tonali in the summer as Antonio Conte is a big admirer of the new Milan signing.

“I’ve never had a player this strong before,” Cellino told Il Messaggero.

Brescia President Massimo Cellino insists Inter wanted to sign Sandro Tonali in the summer as Antonio Conte is a big admirer of the new Milan signing.

“I’ve never had a player this strong before,” Cellino told Il Messaggero.

“I wanted to keep hold of him, but unfortunately the dream was shattered with the relegation and the uncertainty transmitted by the pandemic.”

“I had to deal with the programming of Brescia without refinancing the club. I am the president and this is my profession, while other colleagues do it as a hobby.”

Tonali, 20, signed for Milan in the summer but had been close to joining Inter before.

“Inter got it wrong,” said Cellino.

“Marotta wanted Tonali and Conte loves him. The clubs that made approaches were rejected because of Inter but at some point Tonali wanted to know his future.”

“Sandro has been a fan of Milan since he was a child. The operation with them made me doubly happy: I also respected a club that gave value to money. Maldini has DNA from Milan and has everything he needs to become an important director.”
