Petr Cech expects Romelu Lukaku to have a good season with Chelsea next campaign, suggesting that he won’t be returning to Inter this summer.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward is reportedly desperate to leave the Blues only a year after arriving from Italy in a deal worth €115m. It was a torrid campaign for Lukaku, who only netted eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances, and now he’s pushing for a return to Inter.

Speaking to Sky Sports UK, Cech discussed his expectations of Lukaku’s second season in West London, suggesting that a move away from Chelsea is not on the cards for the time being.

“I personally believe he will have a great season because last season we seen how strong he can be at the beginning when he came. Unfortunately long-term injury he sustained against Villa slowed everything down, and then he had COVID as well.

“We could see towards the end of the season when he was fit and ready to go again how strong he is. We had a particular season as a team around Christmas with COVID issues, he was one of those players affected, too I have full confidence he will bounce back and have a strong season.”

The Nerazzurri are dreaming of a front three of Lautaro Martinez, Lukaku and Paulo Dybala, but it’s hard to see this coming about considering their financial limitations.

The Belgian forward is reportedly willing to drop his wages in order to facilitate a return to Inter, which would be further helped by tax benefits courtesy of the Growth Decree law.

  1. Chelsea should buy Neymar to support him upfront.. all the Chelsea attackers are very selfish, that was Chelsea and lukaku did not score too many goals. Lukaku will make runs but will not receive the ball.
