Edinson Cavani will be rewarded for his efforts at Napoli this season with a new Azzurri contract.

The Uruguayan joined the club in the summer from Palermo and has been in impressive scoring mood.

Cavani has netted a sensational 33 goals in 45 appearances for the club, with 26 of those coming in Serie A and seven in the Europa League.

It is understood that Cavani has agreed a new contract until 2016 which will see him net at least €2m a season.

That figure could increase if a series of bonus incentives are met.

Cavani is strictly only on loan from Palermo this term, but the Azzurri will take up their option to buy him outright before the new campaign begins.

Cavani won't play again this season though as he is suspended for the last game of the campaign at Juventus.

Napoli are expected to confirm Cavani's contract renewal relatively soon.
