Catania are furious after Maxi Lopez failed to attend pre-season training, as his agent described talks with Torino.

The striker spent last season on loan at Sampdoria, while for six months before that he was at Milan, so does not seem prepared to return to Sicily.

“Maxi Lopez is not at pre-season training and I don’t understand why,” blasted Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti.

“In any case, I am waiting for him and hope he will be professional. We started yesterday after over 50 days of vacation. The players looked to be in good shape, so behaved well over the summer.”

Maxi Lopez’s agent spoke to ItaSportPress about the situation and his no-show in Catania.

“We are still working on the Torino move, but there has been a step back there,” said representative Andrea D’Amico.

“In any case, there are other options for Maxi Lopez and we hope to soon reach a conclusion. Will he train with Catania? For now the priority is to find Maxi a club.”
