Catania have moved quickly to try to dispel growing rumours that Roma will look to Vincenzo Montella to take over as Coach next season.

After a strong season with Catania, Montella has been linked with a move to one of a number of different clubs this summer, including the likes of Lazio” data-scaytid=”9″>Lazio, Napoli and Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”10″>Fiorentina.

In light of Luis Enrique’s reported farewell to his Roma players in training today, the 37-year-old tactician has been installed as the early favourite to make a return to the capital club.

However, Catania’s Antonino Pulvirenti has looked to again clarify the Elefanti’s position with their young Coach.

“Montella will be the Coach of Catania for next year, he has another year on his contract and I have not spoken with any team and, knowing the directors at Roma well, I have not spoken with them about him either,” the President told Sky Sport Italia on Thursday.

“To me, he will be our Coach next year, the rest is all just talk in the air. If a great club like Roma wants him? Catania is, for me, superior to Roma and these rumours spread bother me, because we have a big game on Sunday against Udinese, a game that we want to win.

“At the end of the season, as we always do, we will sit down with the Coach and make plans for the future.

“When will we meet? When deemed appropriate and it will be to discuss the future of Catania.”
