Luca Castellazzi’s representative is optimistic that the veteran will be handed a new contract at Italian giants Inter.

The former Sampdoria player, 36, joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2010 to act as an understudy for first choice custodian Julio Cesar.

“Inter are happy with his performances,” stated representative Adriano Rebuffi to interlive.it on Thursday.

“We still haven’t set up a meeting with the club, but I think there are the conditions in place for a renewal.

“Would he remain as the third choice at Inter? I’ve not been told that is a role that they have in mind for him.”

The ex-Brescia player, whose contract expires in June 2012, has made 24 appearances for the Beneamata across Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.
