The Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora is meeting with the FIGC, Lega Serie A and CTS on Thursday, so if the protocol is agreed, we should have a date for the resumption of the league.
“It’s a step forward that we are allowed to keep the team training in isolation if there is a positive COVID-19 case, but clearly the CTS want to evaluate the epidemiological curve,” President of the Association of Italian Football Medics Castellacci told Radio Capital.
“If that were to drop notably, we could see the quarantine period reduced from 14 days to seven, then the situation around the league would be clearer.”
So far, the CTS (technical scientific committee) has rejected the idea of shortening the quarantine period.
There are also concerns after Bologna announced they have the first suspected COVID-19 case among their staff, which occurred after the group training began.
“I would bet on the Serie A season starting up again, but I’m not sure I’d bet on it reaching a conclusion,” added Castellacci.
“With one positive case and the 14-day rule, I would see that as the end to the season.”
