The agent of Antonio Cassano is refusing to criticise Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for taking his client off in last night’s penalty win over England.

The Milan forward was replaced by Bologna attacking midfielder Alessandro Diamanti, the man who struck home the decisive penalty.

“Cassano didn’t take a penalty? He’s taken a hundred,” Beppe Bozzo told Sky Sport Italia. “We can only thank Prandelli for waiting for him [after injury] and that gave Cassano an incredible charge.”

Cassano’s place at Euro 2012 was placed into doubt late last year after he underwent minor heart surgery. He only returned to competitive action in April.

Meanwhile, Bozzo dismissed the possibility that Cassano could one day end up at former club Sampdoria again.

“I don’t think there are any problems with Milan,” added the representative. “I don’t think he’ll ever return to Samp.

“I really do not believe that there are the conditions in place for a move back to Sampdoria.”
