The looming financial crisis at Parma could reportedly see Antonio Cassano return to Sampdoria.

The Ducali were yesterday reported to have failed to meet a deadline to pay three month’s wages owed to players, and as a result will face a points deduction.

The Tardini side were previously denied entry to the Europa League over non-payment of taxes.

Now the Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Parma striker Antonio Cassano is looking to force a move back to Sampdoria.

Cassano scored 35 goals in 98 games during a four year spell with the Blucerchiati between 2007 and 2011, striking up a formidable partnership with Giampaolo Pazzini.

The newspaper believes that Cassano is unhappy with the methods of Parma Coach Roberto Donadoni and met with Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero in Roma last week.

The sports daily believes that the two discussed a possible Marassi return for Cassano, with a move possibly coming in July.

The Gazzetta reports that a potential stumbling block would be the prohibitive cost of acquiring Cassano, but given Parma’s financial situation Samp are willing to try for a deal.
