Antonio Cassano says he wants to play for Sampdoria next season, insisting ‘money is not a problem’.

The striker is a free agent after leaving Parma in January amidst the Ducali’s financial crisis, and insists he wants to get back into football.

“It was no longer possible to stay at Parma,” Cassano explained in an interview with La Stampa.

“There was a poisonous atmosphere, I play because I enjoy it, and I will do again, I absolutely don’t want to retire.

“It was no longer possible to stay at Parma,” Cassano explained in an interview with La Stampa.

“There was a poisonous atmosphere, I play because I enjoy it, and I will do again, I absolutely don’t want to retire.

“I feel very good physically, I just have to get back into the game. The next season will be the best of my life.

“What team do I want to play for? My team is Sampdoria, they’re the team of my heart, the team that I love.

“I’ve said it a thousand times, and I’ll say it again, but this is the last offer.

“I’d like to play with Sampdoria next season, the money is not a problem. I had an agreement with [Sampdoria President Massimo] Ferrero in January.

“It would have been free until June, then a two-year deal. I don’t know what happened…”

The former Real Madrid man also expressed a desire to return to the Italy squad in time for Euro 2016.

“I want to go to the next European Championships in France. I want to give [Italy CT Antonio] Conte a doubt, even if it’s only for an hour.

“It would be an immense achievement. It’s one thing to make it to the national team at 20, it’s another at my age.”
