Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho picked up a knee injury, the club has confirmed, and may be in doubt for the game against Juventus.

The 36-year-old was subbed off after only 16 minutes in the Euro 2016 qualifier between Portugal and Serbia last Sunday, and the Ligue 1 side has now released a statement confirming a sprain.

“After suffering a knee sprain in the match between Portugal and Serbia, Ricardo Carvalho will miss the match against AS Saint Etienne on Friday.” reads the statement.

The club said nothing about recovery times, but his presence against Juventus on April 15 may be in jeopardy should he not recover in time.

A knee sprain would usually be expected to sideline a player for at least three weeks, depending on the severity.
