Massimo Carrera, who for many years was Antonio Conte’s assistant manager at Juventus and for Italy, can see the Tottenham Hotspur boss returning to Serie A soon.

While Carrera had been part of Conte’s staff from 2012 to 2014 in Turin, then for the Nazionale in 2014-16, he set off on his own coaching path at Spartak Moscow, AEK Athens and Bari.

With Conte’s contract running down at Spurs and recent health concerns making him think more carefully about spending time with family, there have been multiple reports of a potential return to Italy.

“I think he’d do well anywhere, as Antonio is one of the best coaches in circulation. Whoever hires him will be making the best possible choice,” assures Carrera in Tuttosport.

“Whether it is in Italy or abroad, I want him to be happy, as I love him like a brother.”

While his most recent job in Italy was at Inter, where he won the Serie A title, there are rumours Conte could come full circle and return to Juventus.

“You’d have to ask him,” replied Carrera with a knowing laugh when asked about those suggestions.

Conte truly flourished as a coach at Juventus, where he had also been a player for many years, winning three consecutive Serie A titles from 2012 to 2014.

He went on to roles on the Italy bench, at Chelsea, Inter and joined Tottenham in November 2021.
