Napoli and Argentina legend Diego Armando Maradona died in November 2020 and it’s reported eight health workers will face a trial for failing to provide the necessary treatment.

Maradona was staying at home after he was released from hospital following surgery and had a team of health professionals who were meant to watching him 24 hours a day.

He died of a heart attack at the age of 60 and an investigation found the treatment was lacking, he was left for hours without supervision or help and the set-up was completely inadequate for someone in his condition.

Now La Nacion report that eight people will go to trial for manslaughter due to negligence, having failed to give Maradona the treatment that could’ve saved his life.

These include a neurosurgeon, a psychiatrist and several nurses.

They risk anything from eight to 25 years in prison if found guilty of manslaughter.

Maradona spent most of his playing career at Napoli from 1984 to 1991, winning two Serie A titles, the UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.
