Brescia President Gino Corioni lambasted Andrea Caracciolo for turning down Dynamo Kiev. “What a wasted opportunity!”

The two clubs had agreed a fee, but the striker rejected the transfer to the Ukraine giants, where he'd play alongside Andriy Shevchenko.

“Caracciolo is a great player, but you cannot waste certain opportunities,” Corioni told Sky Sport Italia.

“He has many offers, including one to see out his career in a team that plays in the Champions League – Dynamo Kiev – but he doesn't want to go.

“You need strength and character to make certain choices, as it's not enough to be a good player. In any case, if he doesn't find another alternative, he will play in Serie B with Brescia.”

This is not the first time Caracciolo has let home comforts take precedence over career, as a few years ago he also turned down the chance to join Glasgow Rangers.

Another Brescia star could be heading for Ukraine, confirmed Corioni.

“Shakhtar Donetsk want Alessandro Diamanti, but I don't know how those negotiations are going.”
