Fabio Capello is looking forward to Italy-Germany on Tuesday after an “unlucky” Euro 2016 defeat on penalties.

The Azzurri crushed Liechtenstein 4-0 in last night’s World Cup qualifier and host Germany at San Siro in Tuesday’s friendly.

“Germany are always difficult opponents, as they play to their best in all competitions and last time beat us too,” Capello told German paper Tz.

“In these big games the small incidents are often decisive and that proved to be the case at Euro 2016 as well. After so many penalties in the shoot-out, we can say Germany’s victory was a bit lucky.

“Historically Italy have always been superior in terms of tactical organisation, able to analyse in detail the weak and strong points of their rivals.

“On Tuesday it will be a very important match to test the young Azzurri, seeing as Giampiero Ventura will be missing many big players.”

Ventura debuted the new 4-2-4 system against Liechtenstein, so what does Capello make of it?

“It’s a tactic that Ventura has often used during his career and at the moment he is missing several key players, so it seems to me the opportune moment to try changing things.”
