Fabio Capello outlines how Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool taking on Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid in the Champions League Final combine the elements of four football cultures.

It kicks off at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) at the Stade de France.

“These are two schools of thought,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s Spanish technique against Anglo-Saxon vigour. You add in the German school of Klopp that helps Liverpool pay more attention to tactics than the English usually do, while Ancelotti uses the Italian tactics at the service of the Spanish technique.

“These are two very different schools of thought in terms of game management, tactics and preparation for the match.”

Ancelotti has won three of his previous four Champions League Finals, losing only once for Milan against Liverpool in 2005 after he had taken a 3-0 lead, falling eventually on penalties.

Capello won the Champions League at the helm of Milan, two Liga titles with Real Madrid, then had a spell as the England manager, so he knows all these football cultures deep down.

He also explained why Ancelotti opted to leave Rodrygo on the bench initially.

“Rodrygo is more effective when running at players who have tired legs and he can do damage to Liverpool in the second half.”

  1. @FI, Capello didn’t win a Champions League at the helm of Real Madrid, Heynckes and del Bosque did

  2. It was a battle between individualism and altruism, Liverpool Western Anglo Saxons and the Latin Real Madrid.
See the trophies won by Latins including Latin Americans and the former wASP.
Gemans are far disciplined than english.
    That’s is the story.
