Reports in Britain suggest Fabio Cannavaro could take over from Steve Evans at Leeds United.

The former defender is currently out of work after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, and yesterday threw his hat into the ring for the Italy job.

However, the Daily Mail is now reporting that Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is considering the World Cup-winner to replace Evans on the Elland Road bench.

However, the Daily Mail is now reporting that Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is considering the World Cup-winner to replace Evans on the Elland Road bench.

A 4-1 defeat at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday has reportedly sealed the Scotsman’s fate, with the trigger-happy patron refusing to keep him on beyond the summer.

That could see Cannavaro step into the role, which would be his fourth Coaching job after Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Guangzhou Evergrande.

Evans would be the sixth manager to be axed since Cellino took over the club.

The former Cagliari President was known as 'mangiallenatori' or 'manager-eater' during his time in Italy.
