Fabio Cannavaro would be “honoured” by the offer of becoming Italy Coach, but his agent said there’s “little concrete” at the moment.

The 2006 Ballon d’Or, FIFA World Player of the Year and World Cup winner has been suggested as a possible heir to Cesare Prandelli.

“It is an intriguing proposal and he’d be honoured, but there is little concrete to talk about right now,” his agent Gaetano Fedele told Sky Sport Italia.

“When there is a generational change, doing something different can be the right choice.”

Cannavaro was a director at Dubai club Al-Ahli and since July 2013 has been assistant manager to Cosmin Olaroiu.

He has the necessary paperwork to be a Coach, having passed the Uefa Pro Master’s degree.

“There had been some discussion with Real Madrid over the last year. Now he is continuing this experience at Al-Ahli, which he is enjoying.”
