The 37-year-old had expected to see out the final spell of his career in Dubai, but after just 12 months at Al Ahli he was released from his contract due to disappointing performances.

That doesn't mean the 2006 World Cup, Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year winner has any intention of hanging up his boots.

“I have not yet decided when I will retire,” Cannavaro told journalists.
