Italy have equalised against England in the EURO 2020 Final and are pushing to turn the game around, but it has only happened three times in history – all of them going to extra time.

The Azzurri equalised Luke Shaw’s opening goal through Leonardo Bonucci in the second half, as two defenders are on the scoresheet at Wembley Stadium.

Italy were trailing since the second minute of the match and still have a mountain to climb, as the European Championship Final has only been turned around three times throughout history, and one of the featured an Azzurri defeat.

France overcame Italy in the EURO 2000 Final, when Marco Delvecchio had sent the Azzurri ahead, before Sylvain Wiltord equalised in stoppages, before former Juventus hero David Trezeguet decided the game in extra time.

In the first edition in 1960, Soviet Union turned the game around in extra time to win the match 2-1 over Yugoslavia.

Then, in 1996, Germany beat Czech Republic in the Final, when Patrick Berger scored a penalty after 59 minutes, but Olivier Bierhoff equalised in the 73rd minute and then decided the game in extra time.
