Jose Luis Callejon could reunite with his former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri at Lazio, having struggled for playing time at Fiorentina.

The 34-year-old Spaniard was released by Napoli in October 2020 and signed for the Viola as a free agent, but made very little impact at the Stadio Franchi.

He scored one goal in 22 appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Callejon is considering a reunion with Sarri at the Stadio Olimpico, where he is now the coach of Lazio.

The Spaniard had easily the best form of his career under Sarri at Napoli, scoring 42 goals and providing 35 assists in 146 competitive games.

Lazio are moving to a 4-3-3 formation after five years of 3-5-2 under Simone Inzaghi, so wish to bring in players more accustomed to this style of play.

The same report suggests Fiorentina could try to replace Callejon in their squad with another experienced figure, specifically Sampdoria veteran Antonio Candreva.
