Napoli trail 2-0 from the first leg away at Arsenal, but Callejon is backing his team to pull off ‘something historic’ when the two teams rematch at the San Paolo on Thursday.

“We have a lot of confidence,” the winger said at a Press conference.

“We have to try to win, we have to do it for ourselves and our fans, but I see a confident and hungry dressing room.

“We know we weren’t great in the first half in London, but tomorrow we have a massive opportunity to do something historic. We can have a great night, playing the perfect game.”

The Partenopei went ‘in ritiro’ – when a team are punitively confined to their training ground or hotel – after their defeat in North London.

At our last dressing-room meeting, we talked, we aired our thoughts and explained ourselves to each other,” explained the Spaniard.

“I don’t want to reveal what was discussed, but we all left happy from the meeting.

“After that match in Verona I went home with my family and I began to think about the game with Arsenal.

“It is obvious that we have to concentrate on passing the round because it could be a historic moment for the club and the city.”

Callejon has been a permanent fixture in Napoli line-up for the last six seasons, and he went on to explain the desire he had to play every game.

“Football is my job and my passion, I always train at 100 percent and I will do it until the last day,” concluded the 32-year-old.

“Coaches come and go, and I was lucky to be a regular on the field under all of them.

“I have been here six years and I am very happy with what I have achieved.”
