Mattia Caldara moves back to Atalanta from Milan and his agent Giuseppe Riso has claimed he “returns to his family”.

The 25-year-old returns to Bergamo after an unsuccessful spell at San Siro and his agent has said he “clearly” wanted to go home.

“Mattia’s choice was clear,” Riso told Calciomercato.com. “He returns to his home and family.

Caldara moved back to the Dea on a loan deal with €15m option to buy and the agent has thanked Milan for their “understanding” and said it was an “important move” for the defender.

“Milan, on the other hand, understood Mattia’s need to go back where everyone knew him. We thank the Rossoneri for understanding the player’s will.

“Mattia was not lucky with his adventure at AC Milan. His arrival at Atalanta will be an important step to restart and find continuity. Milan will be able to recover the player’s value.”
