Davide Calabria is still suffering with an ankle injury, but Milan have confirmed the defender doesn’t need surgery.

The full-back hasn’t featured since a 0-0 draw with Fiorentina in September, having hurt his ankle in training shortly after.

While he is not yet ready to make a return to Vincenzo Montella’s squad, it appears the 19-year-old won’t have to go under the knife.

While he is not yet ready to make a return to Vincenzo Montella’s squad, it appears the 19-year-old won’t have to go under the knife.

“Milan announces that Davide Calabria is still suffering from the effects of a sprain to the left ankle with ligament damage, which he suffered in training in early October,” a statement on the Rossoneri’s official website announced.

“The specialists consulted have all excluded, at this time, the need for surgical treatment. The damage is improving, but it will take a long time for complete healing.

“A rehabilitation program has been agreed to bring the player to recovery that will occur based on the clinical response to progressive tests.”
