Jens Cajuste has taken part in his first Napoli press conference on the day of his official unveiling at the club’s SSCN Konami training centre in Campania.

The 24-year-old discussed the choice he had to make to leave high-flying Ligue 1 side Reims for Napoli this summer, describing it as ‘the easiest decision of my career.’

Cajuste also expanded on what he expects to bring to the team, explaining that his tactical versatility could be of use to new coach Rudi Garcia in the coming season.

The Sweden international told the press: “I can play in different positions. I can play from deep and also be the more advanced midfielder. The coach will decide what will be the best position for me and for the team.

“I don’t really like talking about myself as an individual, I can only say that my goal is to play for the team and to help my teammates.

“In the meantime, I’m happy to be here. I feel like I’m part of a great machine. My job is to always be available, then the coach will choose when the best time to play comes.”

Cajuste was asked how it felt to be teaming up with a squad that just won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.

He responded: “For me, it was an extraordinary experience right from the first training session watching the whole group. I was impressed by everyone because this squad has a very high level of quality that I had never seen in my career so far.”

The former Midtjylland midfielder then spoke in more detail about Napoli’s title-winning campaign last season and how it felt to watch the journey from the outside.

“I followed Napoli last year, they had a fantastic season. It’s surreal (to be here) and at the same time it’s an exciting feeling to be here today. I’m here alongside amazing midfielders, great champions with whom I’m proud to play.”

Then, Cajuste explained why joining Napoli was not a particularly difficult choice.

“Let’s say it was the easiest decision of my life,” he said. “The team is extraordinary, there is a coach of international status, the club is prestigious and the environment is special. I’m really happy to be in this city.”
