Torino President Urbano Cairo won’t say they’re aiming for Europe – “it’s important to move forward one game at a time, then we’ll see”.

The Granata spent big this summer, with most assuming that they’re aiming to return to the Europa League.

“I’m satisfied with our start,” Cairo explained to reports at the Festival dello Sport.

“I’m satisfied with our start,” Cairo explained to reports at the Festival dello Sport.

“We had an undeserved negative result against Roma, then showed good things against Inter and Spal.

“The end of the transfer window was very important, we signed four players who need to work with [Coach Walter] Mazzarri a bit more.

“They’ve been in the group for a month now though and are getting better and better. I regretted not being able to give my Coach his team earlier, but it was worth it because the discomfort of these weeks will be recovered.

“If we had objectives we could miss them. We’ve invested €60m without bringing much in, but I’d prefer not to talk about our objective.

“Now it’s important to move forward one game at a time, then we’ll see. We’ll make our first step at the end of the first half of the season.”

Simone Zaza was one of the big summer signings, and Cairo was asked if he wants to see him play alongside Andrea Belotti.

“It’s totally up to the Coach. We’ve given Mazzarri a good squad, but I’ll never have any solicitations about anything.

“He’ll make choices about the team, so you’d have to ask him. Simone and Il Gallo have only played together for 10 minutes, that’s the case in the national team too.”
