Today's reports that the Nerazzurri were hoping to secure the 25-year-old by offering Marco Benassi in exchange are only the latest in a string of transfer rumours surrounding Torino.

However, Cairo denied all speculation regarding Darmian as well as Torino captain Kamil Glik.

“They're not for sale,” he said, in an interview with Libero. “They've been with us for four years now and they're more than happy.

“They'll stay here, if this is what they want. We'll sell the players only if they ask us to let them go because they need new incentives. Only then will we seek out valid alternatives."

The Granata patron also had the time to discuss two former players who left his team and struggled to find fortune, Alessio Cerci and Ciro Immobile.

“They're not reaping the rewards they deserve. Both of them left a bit too hastily and maybe they're regretting it.

“Would I take them back? It depends on their drive, but right now I'm not thinking about that.”
