Cagliari owner Tommaso Giulini reportedly refused to negotiate with Lazio over Davide Astori.
The defender has been a primary transfer target for several weeks, but newspaper Il Tempo claims Giulini slammed the door.
“Astori will never go to Lazio and I will not negotiate with Claudio Lotito,” he is quoted as telling his staff.
Cagliari director of sport Francesco Marroccu was asked about the situation by Sportitalia.
“There was a chat during the Lega meeting, but at the moment with Lazio it is just basic contact.”
The situation is not helped by reports Lazio have told Astori to refuse a contract renewal and so, with his deal set to expire in 2015, push through a summer sale.
