Cagliari will go into a training retreat after recent poor results, but Keita Balde Diao is in hospital with an abscess.
The Sardinians are rock bottom in the Serie A table after last night’s 2-0 defeat to Bologna and sacking Leonardo Semplici to replace him with Walter Mazzarri has not improved matters.
They have just four points from the opening 11 rounds.
The squad has been placed into a training retreat to better prepare for this weekend’s Serie A encounter with Atalanta.
However, Keita is not with the rest of the group, as he is staying overnight in hospital.
That is because the Senegal international was diagnosed with an abscess on the back of his tonsils and requires specialist treatment.
It’s safe to say he will miss this weekend’s Serie A match.
The 26-year-old former Lazio, Inter, Sampdoria and AS Monaco forward scored two goals and provided two assists in eight Serie A appearances for Cagliari this season.
