Milan are reportedly moving closer to Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, who is having dinner with his agent tonight to work out a strategy.

The centre-back is the new primary target for the January transfer window and the latest rumours suggest it is very much a mutual interest.

This is a considerable change from the summer, when Toro had practically agreed his sale to Atalanta only for Buongiorno to insist he did not want to leave.

That decision made him a hero to Granata supporters, who wanted him to receive the captain’s armband, but he seems to have been swayed by the call from Milan.

Torino are asking for €40m and that can be lowered with the inclusion of striker Lorenzo Colombo, who is currently on loan at Monza.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Buongiorno is having dinner with his agent Beppe Riso this evening to discuss their strategy, another sign that he is eager for the move to go through.

So far this season, Buongiorno has made 17 appearances for the Granata, also scoring three goals from central defence, and earned senior caps for Luciano Spalletti’s Italy.
