Gigi Buffon said Juventus “have written indelible pages in the history of football, but I don’t want the Ballon d’Or as a gift. I want to deserve it.”

The captain will lift the Scudetto trophy for the sixth time in a row this afternoon, following a 3-0 victory over Crotone.

“The sixth consecutive title is something extremely significant,” Buffon told Mediaset Premium, as the Bianconeri achieved something no other club has managed in Serie A.

“The sixth consecutive title is something extremely significant,” Buffon told Mediaset Premium, as the Bianconeri achieved something no other club has managed in Serie A.

“We have written indelible pages in the history of football. It’s great to always work to our best and win for six years in a row.”

Juve have won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, so if they complete the Treble in the Champions League Final against Real Madrid on June 3, will Buffon be a contender for the Ballon d’Or?

“If I deserve it, then that will be very pleasing, but I don’t want any gifts.”
