Gigi Buffon admits he almost left Juventus twice during the course of his career with the Old Lady.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper joined the Bianconeri from Parma in 2001 and has won a host of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa titles, as well as Serie B once, during his iconic spell in Turin.

However, speaking on the Maurizio Costanzo Show, he acknowledges things may have turned out very differently if he had not corrected his conduct at the club on a couple of occasions.

“It has happened twice [almost leaving],” Buffon remarked.

However, speaking on the Maurizio Costanzo Show, he acknowledges things may have turned out very differently if he had not corrected his conduct at the club on a couple of occasions.

“It has happened twice [almost leaving],” Buffon remarked.

“It was a times when I didn’t recognise the decisive values of what it means to be a Juventino present in myself anymore.

“I noticed that things had gone off course and that I would have to accept responsibility or things couldn’t continue as they were.

“But even then, destiny meant that everything sorted itself out, luckily for me.”

Buffon’s contract at Juventus expires this summer and it remains unclear whether he will continue playing beyond the end of the season.
