“We have to make sure we are ready from the very beginning of this match. I didn’t think I would end up playing wide left in a 4-4-2, but I am playing for the team more than for myself. I miss the goal a little bit, but things are going well.”
The game with Roma is set for 19.45 UK time on Monday evening, but could be moved forward or even postponed as heavy snow continues to pummel the Peninsula.
“Changes do make a difference in the campaign, but it’s always better to move a match than to play in unstable conditions. With these temperatures we risk injuries and naturally the spectacle for the fans is compromised.”
Siena are battling for Serie A safety, but also find themselves in the Coppa Italia semi-final, where they beat Napoli 2-1 this week.
“It would be an historic result if we reached the Final, even if there are some regrets that we conceded that goal in the final minutes. Qualification is wide open and we want to gamble right to the end,” continued Brienza.
“Naturally our primary objective is Serie A safety, but the Coppa has so far given us some wonderful moments.”
