Flavio Briatore has commented on why he has recommended Adel Taarabt complete a move out to Milan this month.

Taarabt is today in Milan to finalise terms of an initial loan switch out to the Rossoneri, apparently after taking advise from the former QPR shareholder.

“I know him well, he was what saw my QPR make the jump to the Premier League,” commented entrepreneur Briatore to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is a phenomenon. Milan has made a great deal. But he is a talent that must be managed. With us, at QPR, Gianni Paladini was the ds and had a great relationship with him, he was close to him.

“He is a boy who must be protected, pampered. I was the one to buy him from Tottenham. And he is one who plays equally on the left and right, he is strong in set-plays. I spoke well of him to Galliani, because he deserves that.”

Briatore mused also on Milan’s current issues in Serie A and on his respect for friend Adriano Galliani.

“Just last year, Milan made a comeback in the League, it is possible, they are a team that is changing. As a Juventino I am happy that Milan are behind, but for my friend Galliani, no I am not.

“Galliani? He is certainly the greatest Italian football executive and Milan cannot do without him. Having said that, to have divided the sporting aspect from the commercial still makes sense.

“Galliani has signed commercial deals of great importance for Milan in recent years. Dealing with money is not easy. He has known how to maintain contracts over time.

“The President Berlusconi knows that Milan today and tomorrow needs the ability of Adriano Galliani.”
