Milan may well have found their new midfielder, because Brest director Gregory Lorenzi confirms they will ‘study’ a potential January offer for Romain Faivre.

The clubs had already been in discussions over the summer and could not agree terms, but the situation seems to have changed recently.

The 23-year-old has continued to impress in Ligue 1 this season, contributing seven goals and five assists in just 18 appearances.

He can play on the left, right or crucially as a trequartista behind the strikers, the role where Milan are currently struggling due to the poor form of Brahim Diaz.

“We are in no rush and we want to end the season together before considering the proposals in the summer, while the player has not expressed a desire to leave either,” Brest director of sport Lorenzi told L’Equipe.

“However, if an opportunity were to present itself, we would study it. Our priority remains evaluating his situation at the end of the season.”

Brest wanted €20m last summer, so rejected several Milan offers for Faivre, going up to €12m plus €3m in performance-related bonuses.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri could only really go for Faivre in January if Samu Castillejo was to move on.

The Spaniard could find a new home on loan at Andriy Shevchenko’s Genoa.

  1. Brest trying hard to mantain his price by denying his desire to go to milan but trying to invite a bid from the same club at the same time. Understandable
What a cheap move, but i think he knows that milan has cheap management too
