Former Torino winger Josip Brekalo is reportedly returning to Serie A from Wolfsburg, with Monza beating Fiorentina and Bologna to his signature.

The Croatia international is no stranger to Serie A and had spent the 2021-22 campaign at Torino.

The two clubs were unable to agree on terms to make the loan spell permanent, so he went back to Germany.

After just four appearances for his club so far this season, contributing two assists, Brekalo is eager for another shot at Serie A.

According to various reports including Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old is on the verge of a transfer to Monza.

His contract with Wolfsburg only runs to June 30, so he is available for a relatively low fee.

Fiorentina, Bologna and Torino had also shown an interest, but Monza seem to have got the deal, offering the player a contract worth €2m per season plus bonuses.
