It’s claimed Felipe Scolari is watching Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has to choose between Brazil and Italy.

The 22-year-old moved from Verona to Napoli in January and has impressed, but is still a few months away from becoming eligible to play for Italy.

He had been called up by the Under-21 side, but did not actually step on to the field.

“The player is having a great year and Scolari had already sent scouts to view him when he was playing for Hellas Verona,” FIFA agent Sabatino Durante told Escanteio.com in Brazil.

“The Coach appreciated his performance, the player is liked and they are tracking his progress.

“There could well be a battle for Jorginho between Brazil and Italy.”

Azzurri tactician Cesare Prandelli confirmed he would’ve gladly consider Jorginho for the World Cup this summer, but was prevented from doing so by the Italian rules on citizenship.

Jorginho grew up in the Verona youth academy and has been in Italy since he was a teenager.
