Former Inter President Massimo Moratti has reportedly advised the club to re-appoint Marco Branca as their sporting director.

Inter are thought to be on the lookout for a new sporting director after Walter Sabatini stepped down on Wednesday, and Gazzetta dello Sport claims a familiar face could be returning.

Branca played for the Nerazzurri as a striker, before spending 12 years working in their recruitment department, helping Lele Oriali bring in the likes of Lucio, Diego Milito, Thiago Motta, Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto’o, all of whom played in the Treble team in 2010.

He replaced Oriali as the man in charge of transfers a year later, but his time in the role coincided with the start of Inter’s decline, prior to his departure in 2014.

However, La Gazzetta warns current owners Suning Group may decide to ignore Moratti’s advice as it feels the Beneamata already have a ‘strong’ management structure in place.
