Marco Branca insists that Maicon will remain at Inter, while dismissing more speculation about Carlos Tevez.

Maicon has again been linked with an exit this summer, especially after the club signed right-back Jonathan from Santos recently.

"Jonathan and Maicon are two issues that do not influence one another,” he underlined.

“The arrival of the Brazilian was decided in order to increase our ability to compete considering the number of matches we'll have to play.

“The decision to bring Jonathan here means that Inter want to show they can be an extremely competitive side in spite of the number of matches in a season."

Turning to Manchester City striker Tevez, Branca was asked about a possible bid for the want-away forward.

"There has only been one meeting between us and it was completely by chance and very pleasant," he added.

"It was on a beach in Sardinia, but I've been back here for a while now and there will be no follow-up."

The Nerazzurri official also confirmed that he held talks with Genoa on Thursday, but denied today’s speculation about it.

"We didn't talk about either Thiago Motta or about Rodrigo Palacio, but we did talk about something else,” he continued.

“It was the umpteenth very pleasant meeting about the transfer market to see whether, along with sporting director Stefano Capozucca, we could come up with ideas.

“Was the idea to make a purchase together, like they did with Kevin-Prince Boateng of Milan? Possibly.”
