Although the Giallorossi have opted for another change of Coach after a disappointing 2012-13, the USA international is optimistic for the future.

“I've been impressed by President James Pallotta’s enthusiasm, his drive and commitment,” the midfielder stated while on tour with the club in Kansas City.

“The club wants to grow into something special in world and European football.

“You want to be at a club with ambition and everyone here – from the players to the club President – is striving to build and win something. That's why I chose Roma.”

The 25-year-old moved to the capital club in 2012 from Chievo, a switch which has allowed him to play alongside Giallorosso idol Francesco Totti.

“Francesco is one of the best players who's ever played the game. The opportunity to play and train with him, be his teammate and become his friend has been incredible.

“You already have an idea of what sort of player he is, how good he is. But up close, when you play with him, he's so much better than people realise.

“He has the ability to see things no one else does, to make other players better. He's certainly one of the best players in the world.

“One of the best things has been his loyalty to Rome, the club. Obviously he had chances to leave, but always stayed true to what he feels and where he’s from.”
