FIFA Vice President Jim Boyce has admitted he has been left shocked by Jerome Valcke's statement that the 2022 World Cup won’t be played in the summer.

The FIFA general secretary revealed earlier on Wednesday that the tournament in Qatar was likely to be played between November 15 and January 15.

However, his fellow member at the governing body has claimed that it was a personal remark on Valcke’s behalf and no decision has been made on the date of the competition.

“As it stands it remains in the summer with no decision expected until end of 2014 or March 2015,” he told Sky Sports News.
