Speaking to Primo Canale Sport, he said: "I like Boselli. He is our objective. We are talking about an interesting player also in terms of his prospects.

"He has played with Rodrigo Palacio. They know each other well. We will try and take the best chance available to us.

"We want to dismantle the old house and rebuild another that can give our fans' satisfaction."

Wigan's chief secretary later acknowledged that "Genoa's interest is concrete" and that there is contact between two clubs.

The player also tweeted that he is looking forward to "six months" on loan in Genoa.
