Genoa confirmed they are in talks with Roma to swap Alberto Gilardino for Marco Borriello. “We’ll see if it can be done.”

The reports had emerged over the last few days that both clubs would be able to solve a problem for each other.

“Next week we’ll meet up and see if it can be done,” Genoa President Enrico Preziosi told Radio Radio.

“We want Borriello because he has different characteristics to Gilardino and is of more use to Genoa.

“We’re not there yet for this exchange, as it must be supported by economic characteristics too.”

Gilardino spent this season on loan at Bologna, but the clubs have not reached an agreement on continuing that rapport or buying the striker outright.

Borriello was at Genoa on loan this term from Roma and proved successful with 12 goals in 28 Serie A games, so an exchange is on the cards.
