Borja Valero confirms he had no doubts when Fiorentina asked him to return to the Artemio Franchi and insists Federico Chiesa 'behaved professionally' before joining Juventus.

"When I knew that I would not sign a contract extension with Inter I had no doubts in front of Fiorentina,” the Spanish midfielder told Il Corriere Fiorentino.

“I also received other offers, but my link with this city and with this club is special."

The last time he had played for Fiorentina the club was owned by the family Della Valle who sold the club to Rocco Commisso a year ago.

"I was very impressed by Commisso, by the great passion and enthusiasm he shows every time he comes to the pitch,” Borja Valero revealed.

But the ownership is not the only thing that changed since the last time he played at the Artemio Franchi.

"There are many players who make feel their weight in the locker room. There are more leaders, in addition to our captain Pezzella,” the 35-year-old said.

"I have not lost the desire to play and fight for a spot, five substitutions will be useful. I want to prove I am still a football player.”

The former Inter man believes Federico Chiesa acted professionally in his last days at the club, before moving to Juventus on the deadline day.

"Everyone saw what his contribution was, also in his last game with Fiorentina. Professionally, he can’t be blamed.”
