Roma are reportedly on the verge of signing Borja Mayoral from Real Madrid, after he was previously linked with rivals Lazio.

The 23-year-old Spaniard is seen as the understudy to Edin Dzeko, as the Giallorossi only currently have one forward on their roster.

His contract with Real Madrid only runs to June 2021, so first Mayoral must extend for one year, then he can join Roma on loan with option to buy.

He spent the last two seasons on loan at Levante UD, where he scored 14 goals in 69 competitive games, also providing four assists.

Sky Sport Italia claim that the deal is practically done, as more negotiations whittled down the details this morning.

Mayoral had been a target for Lazio earlier in the transfer window, but they opted for Vedat Muriqi from Fenerbahce instead.
