Fabio Borini said Milan have to “bleed” for victory after beating Bologna 2-1 and aimed a sideswipe at teammate Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Suso and substitute Borini got the decisive goals before a late Mattia Destro strike, while Lucas Paqueta, Nicola Sansone and Mitchell Dijks were sent off.

“This win means a lot and we always showed character,” he told Sky Sport Italia while holding a tissue to his nose.

“My nose is bleeding and that’s what we need, to end every game by bleeding. Everything is possible, we have to keep working hard, staying united and realising that’s the only way to win games.”

In that vein, Borini was asked for his opinion on the touchline row between Coach Gennaro Gattuso and Tiemoue Bakayoko, who refused to come off the bench.

“Jose Mauri came on and put in a great performance, everything else has to be dealt with in the locker room. Mauri proved he is always ready when called upon and he helped us to win too.”
